Auto Zürich

Event

When the Geneva International Motor Show closed permanently in 2024 after 119 years, Switzerland lost an institution. But Zürich had been quietly building an alternative since 1987, and Auto Zürich now stands as the country's most important public motor show—drawing a record 68,053 visitors in 2025 and presenting over eighty premieres across four days at Messe Zürich.

The format differs from Geneva's former grandeur. Where Geneva sprawled with global debuts and concept cars, Auto Zürich operates as a compact, well-curated exhibition focused on what Swiss buyers can actually purchase. Manufacturers, importers, and tuners share floor space with electric mobility specialists, creating what organisers claim is Europe's largest variety of automotive brands under one roof. The EV Experience platform addresses practical questions about electrification—expert advice, comparisons, and test drives that let visitors feel the difference rather than read about it.

Hall 6 houses the Manufacture & Classic section, where coachbuilt rarities and collector-grade vehicles sit alongside production models. A partnership with Broad Arrow brings the Zurich Auction to the Dolder Grand hotel during show weekend—a proper collector car sale in one of Europe's most refined settings. Recent editions have expanded to include Auto Zürich Moto, recognising motorcycle popularity in Switzerland.

The venue sits in Zürich-Oerlikon, connected to Hauptbahnhof by S-Bahn every six minutes. You can arrive from the airport in under thirty minutes. If you want to see what the Swiss market actually offers—from volume brands to hypercars, classic Porsches to the latest Chinese EVs—Auto Zürich delivers without the overwhelming scale of the old international shows.
