Concours of Elegance Germany

Event

The team behind Hampton Court Palace and the London Concours has found a setting that rivals their British venues: Gut Kaltenbrunn, a fifteenth-century estate perched above the aquamarine waters of Lake Tegernsee with the Bavarian Alps rising behind. Now entering its third edition, Concours of Elegance Germany has quickly established itself as one of the most refined gatherings in continental Europe.

Fifty cars form the main concours field – each one selected for rarity, provenance and condition that meets international standards. The 2025 Best of Show, a 1932 Austro-Daimler Bergmeister, gives you a sense of the calibre involved. Another 150 vehicles join through specialist displays and club paddocks, creating a broader exhibition without diluting the core quality. In keeping with Thorough Events tradition, the overall winner is chosen by the participating owners themselves rather than a formal jury – a peer-judged format that encourages genuine appreciation over politics.

The programme extends beyond static display. Many concours entrants arrive via the Bavarian Tour, a four-day driving adventure through Alpine passes and traditional villages. On-site, the schedule includes panel discussions with collectors and industry figures, a Ladies' Concours showcasing cars owned by women, and a Junior Concours introducing the next generation to automotive elegance. A. Lange & Söhne presents fine watchmaking alongside the cars, while Feinkost Käfer handles hospitality with the standard you'd expect from Munich's most celebrated caterer.

The Sunday afternoon Grand Départ – fifty rare engines starting in sequence before departing through the estate gates – provides a fitting finale. Tegernsee is an hour south of Munich, easily reached by car or regional rail, and the surrounding area offers plenty of accommodation from lakeside hotels to Alpine guesthouses.
