NEC Classic Motor Show

Event

Since 1984, the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show has served as the grand finale to Britain's classic car season—a weekend when the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham transforms into the UK's largest indoor celebration of motoring heritage. The 2024 edition marked the show's 40th anniversary with record attendance exceeding 69,000 visitors across three days, and the formula shows no sign of slowing.

The numbers tell only part of the story: over 3,000 vehicles, more than 310 car clubs (the world's largest gathering), 450 specialist traders, and 600 cars for sale through dealers and the Iconic Auctioneers Super Sale. What makes this event special is the club stands themselves. Each is a small universe of enthusiasm, often assembled with theatrical flair and genuine wit—a Jaguar E-Type parked beside a Fiat Panda 4x4, Morris Minors sharing space with Corvettes, every display telling stories that range from concours restorations to beloved daily drivers still wearing their patina honestly.

The UK's largest indoor autojumble sprawls through dedicated halls, offering everything from NOS trim clips to complete engines, workshop manuals to period accessories. The restoration theatre demonstrates specialist techniques for those mid-project, while the Meet the Experts stage brings motoring celebrities—Mike Brewer, Richard Hammond, and specialists from across the industry—to share knowledge with audiences who actually care about the answers.

The NEC sits beside Birmingham International station, with direct rail links from London Euston in just over an hour. Multiple hotels adjoin the venue. If you want to understand British car culture in all its eccentric, passionate, occasionally quirky glory, this is where it gathers every November—and clubs bring different vehicles each year, so you're unlikely to see the same car twice.
