Pista & Piloti - Gran Premio Alfa Romeo

Event

The motto says it all: "Racing with Friends." Pista & Piloti has grown into the largest dynamic event for Italian racing and sports cars in the German-speaking world, with Alfa Romeo regularly accounting for well over half the 240-car field. But this isn't about timing sheets or trophies – it's about the shared joy of driving beautiful machinery on a spectacular circuit, surrounded by people who understand the appeal.

The venue carries its own history. The TRIWO Testgelände occupies a former military airfield in Pferdsfeld, deep in the Hunsrück hills near Bad Kreuznach. In the late 1950s, motorsport-mad American soldiers stationed here regularly converted the base into a circuit, racing against local German drivers. That spirit of informal, passionate competition survives in Pista & Piloti's approach: no licences required, no aggressive timing, just multiple runs on a challenging four-kilometre track featuring everything from tight corners to a memorable banked curve.

The 2026 edition marks the eighth Gran Premio Alfa Romeo. Participants are divided into six categories separating road-legal cars from pure racers, with classes spanning pre-war veterans through to 1990s youngtimers. The field reads like a timeline of Italian automotive ambition – Giuliettas alongside GTAs, Montreals next to racing Tipo 33s, all sharing track time in thirty-minute sessions throughout the day.

Saturday's Alfa Romeo Driving Experience lets owners of modern Quadrifoglio models and current-generation cars push their vehicles under instructor guidance. Sunday belongs to the classics, culminating in themed parades celebrating significant anniversaries. The paddock remains open throughout, encouraging the kind of conversations that only happen when engines are cooling and stories are fresh.

Bad Sobernheim lies roughly an hour from Frankfurt. Spectator tickets are sold online only; under-16s enter free.
